Authorities have accused a Cedar Rapids man of cashing forged payroll checks.

Jeremy Keith, 29, was charged Sept. 21 with second-degree theft and forgery.

According to the affidavit, Keith cashed the checks, totaling $2,830.28, and the teller took his driver’s license number, leading to the arrest.

The business that the checks were from claimed Keith had never worked for the business, and the checks were not legitimate.

Second-degree theft and forgery are Class-D felonies.
