Body found in Iowa River identified

The body found in the Iowa River on July 17 has been identified.

According to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the body pulled out of the Iowa River near the Burlington Street Bridge has been identified as Mohammad Saadi Albaghdadi, 42, of Iowa City.

The cause of death is still unknown and is pending additional testing.

It is also unknown how long Albaghdadi’s body had been in the river before it was recovered.

According to the release, the body was identified with a fingerprint comparison.
