Authorities have issued a warrant for an Oquawka, Illinois, man on a stalking charge.

Cody Jones, 30, is suspected of committing a violation of a protective order by stalking on Aug. 31.

According to the affidavit, Jones has a Scott County no-contact order placed on him by a person. From Aug. 28 to Aug. 31, the affidavit said, Jones contacted that person at least three times by a combination of phone calls, text messages, and SnapChats.

When he contacted the person, the affidavit said, Jones’ messages said, “I will kill you” and “I will kill you today.”

The person feared death and injury after receiving these messages, the affidavit said.

Stalking in violation of a protective order is a Class-D felony.
