North Liberty man accused of felon firearm posession

Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of illegally possessing a firearm.

Juan Martinez-Lopez, 31, was charged Oct. 16 with dominion/control of a firearm/offensive weapon by a felon.

According to the arrest affidavit, a search warrant was issued for Martinez-Lopez’s residence following a domestic abuse/assault with a dangerous weapon charge. The search was performed, the affidavit said, at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 16.

During the search, the affidavit said, officers found a loaded .22-caliber magazine in the home.

Martinez-Lopez has previous felony convictions, the affidavit said.

Dominion/control of a firearm/offensive weapon by a felon is a Class-D felony.
