The Iowa City police are investigating a robbery that took place at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 27 near the intersection of Market and Lucas Streets, according to a press release from the city of Iowa City.

Two men assaulted two male victims, demanding their cellphones, according to the victims’ testimonies, the release said. When one victim fought back, the assailants said they had a gun, the release said, but the victims did not recall seeing the actual weapon.

The two men took the victims’ cellphones and fled the area, the release said.

The victim described the suspects as Latino males in their 20s, one approximately 6-2 around 200 pounds, the other approximately 5-10 and 190 pounds.

The incident warranted an early morning Hawk Alert to the University of Iowa community.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers has offered up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
