Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer spoke to members of the media at the Big Ten Media Days to discuss the upcoming 2017-2018 season.
  • Coming off an appearance in the College Football Playoff.
  • “Last year we were the youngest team in college football, this year we’re not.”
  • Lost six juniors to the NFL.
  • On Kevin Wilson’s input and role: “Kevin Wilson is the first established offensive coordinator I’ve ever hired.”
  • “We kind of let that [loss to Clemson in College Football Playoff] go … That ship has sailed; it’s gone.”
  • This Buckeyes team has a lot of open slots. “Tight end is wide open.” “Wide receiver is wide open.” “Malik Hooker’s spot is wide open.”
  • Said leadership has been an improvement. “Last year there was minimal leadership in our program.”
  • Compared this year’s B1G East to the SEC East during his time at Florida.
  • On Saquon Barkley-Ezekiel Elliott comparisons: “I think that’s very fair.”
  • On Ohio State-Michigan rivalry: “I think it’s the greatest rivalry in sport.
  • “Obviously, we weren’t at the top a year ago. We were near the top.”
