45 Iowa student-athletes named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars

The Big Ten announced that 45 Iowa student-athletes were honored as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be at least in their second academic year and achieve a minimum GPA of 3.7 in the previous academic school year, excluding the summer term.

Of the 45 athletes, 10 maintained a perfect 4.0 for the 2016-17 academic year.

The 4.0 list includes Ally Disterhoft (women’s basketball), Daniel Gardarsson (cross-country/track and field), Sarah Kurtz (softball), Kaelynn Heiberg rowing, Carly Millerd, and Georgia Sanderson, Kaleigh Haus (soccer), and Jess Janota volleyball, Annika Olsen, and Loxley Keala.
