Woman faces theft, forgery charges
Authorities have accused a Coralville woman of stealing from a local supermarket.
Tabitha Galloway, 21, was charged Jan. 4 with second-degree theft and forgery.
According to the arrest affidavit, Galloway went to the Waterfront Drive Hy-Vee at 6:53 p.m. She had a fraudulent check made out to herself for $804.18, the affidavit said, and she obtained the money.
According to the affidavit, on Jan. 21, Galloway went into the Dodge Street Hy-Vee with another fraudulent check, this time with the amount of $801.18. She again obtained the money from that check, the report said.
The affidavit also said security videotapes from both Hy-Vees showed Galloway cashing in the checks. In total, Hy-Vee lost $1,605.36.
In the affidavit, Galloway said, she received $25 for cashing both checks when interviewed by officials.
According to the affidavit, a warrant is out for Galloway’s arrest,
Second-degree theft and forgery are Class-D felonies.
