Local law enforcement has reported that authorities recovered a woman’s body from the Iowa River on Feb. 17.

In a press release, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of a body in the river at around 12:43 p.m. south of the Hills Access.

Deputies confirmed the report after they responded in boats.

The body was recovered around 1:51 p.m.

The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office transported the body to University of Iowa Decedent Care Facility, where an autopsy will be performed.

The body is unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing.
