The Iowa City police have dismissed rumors that a Cambus hit a man Tuesday afternoon, stressing that the incident was a “medical issue.”

Scott Gaarde, the police public-information officer, said police are unable to disclose what medical issue the man experienced.

“He was not struck by a bus,” Gaarde said. “He was being transported for treatment, but it had nothing to do with a bus.”

He said Iowa City police responded to the call at 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday.

The incident is not rare; Gaarde said police respond to many variations of medical assistance on a “very frequent basis.”
