Body found in Iowa River identified as UNI student

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body recovered from Iowa River on Saturday evening as 20-year-old Nathan Twedt, police said.

According to a press release by the office, the body was pulled from the Iowa River at 7:48 p.m. just north of the Benton Street Bridge in Iowa City.

Twedt was from the Marion area, and was enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa.

Due to ongoing investigations, officials have declined to release further information to the public.
