Iowa upset by Illinois in second round Big Ten action

The Iowa men’s basketball team fell to 12th-seeded Illinois 68-66 Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.

The Hawkeyes struggles continue, as they now lost five of their last seven and await their NCAA tournament fate.

The selection will committee will decide where the Hawkeyes head next on Sunday. 

Peter Jok led the Hawkeyes with 29 points on 10-16 shooting despite fouling out of the game with four minutes left. Uthoff backed him with 21 points. The Hawkeyes shot 40.3 percent as a team, while the Illini countered with a 44.8 shooting percentage. The Hawkeyes out-rebounded the Fighting Illini 40-30 but turned the ball over 18 times to Illinois’ 14.
