A wake up call arrived at the Iowa Memorial Union ballroom to liven up the place. Dancers were refreshed as the jazzercise group took to the stage.

The group performed routines that dancers could follow along with them, and was meant to wake the dancers up in the early hours of the morning as the group performed at 5:00 a.m.

UI student, Chris Hanke, talked about how the jazzercise woke him up.

“It was really good exercise,” he said. “I was really tired before, but it was a great wake-up call.”

Other dancers like Jesse McConnell felt the same way about the jazzercise activity.

“It was really awesome actually,” he said. “I was kind of down in the dumps before, but this really rejuvenated me.”

UIDM dancer Michael Marchione talked about the strategic placement of the event.

“I thought it was a really good time in the night to have the event,” he said. “I was feeling drowsy before but this really got my blood flowing.”

The ballroom definitely seemed to receive a surge of energy from jazzercising.

Hopefully, the surge will stick with the dancers as some of them are starting to fade at 6:30 a.m.

Reports of dancers sitting down have been confirmed. They can be seen sitting in the basement of the IMU sitting on the tables in front of the Union Station.

With any luck, the dancers will receive a second wind and get back on the dance.
