Tutoring on the heels of finals

With finals week coming up, many University of Iowa students are spending longer hours at the library. But some students may be missing out on opportunities to help raise their GPAs.

Run by the office of Academic Support and Retention, the academic resource center in the IMU offers students extra help with their studies.

“We’ve seen a large increase in the number of students who attend supplemental instruction,” said Benjamin Walizer, who works for Academic Support and Retention. “At this point in the year we’re on pace to be well over 1,000 more than we’ve ever seen.”

Walizer said it’s important for students to attend supplemental instruction or tutoring early on because as finals get closer, there may not be enough support available.
