Every week, the Iowa football team meets with the media to discuss anything and everything. This time around, the 10-0, No. 5 ranked Hawkeyes head into their final home game of the season this weekend, a matchup with 2-8 Purdue on Senior Day.

Iowa can clinch the West Division this weekend with a win or a Wisconsin loss.

Anyways, here’s what the Iowa players had to say.

C.J. Beathard, quarterback

On potentially winning the division: “One of our goals this offseason was to get to this point and we’ve put ourselves in a good spot.”

Beathard was down on the turf late in the win over Minnesota, but got up and went in for the games final plays, “They asked me if I could go back in, and I said yeah, but I don’t think I can throw the ball and they said, ‘Oh yeah we’re not throwing the ball at this point.’ ”

It seems as if the injury was a hip pointer but, “It’s nothing that will keep me out of a game, it’s bothering me, but the medical staff has things they can do to help the pain go away and help the healing process.”

Jordan Canzeri, running back

On the offensive line: “They know the whole play, the whole scheme and what the defense can or will do.”

On the fullbacks, “They’re definitely some of the best fullbacks in the country, when you’re running behind guys like that, it’s a lot less stress.

Marshall Koehn, placekicker

On his third field attempt (it was ruled a miss), which wasn’t reviewed: “We watched it on film and it definitely finishes inside the upright when it hit the net, but it’s hard to tell if it went over the outside of the upright and kind of came in or not.”

It was frustrating for him, too: “It was frustrating because that would have taken a lot of stress of the defense for sure, because (Minnesota) would have had to score and then get a two-point conversion to tie it.”
