The total amount of money raised is reveled during the final hour of the Big Event in the Iowa Memorial Union on Feb. 7, 2015. The goal for Dance Marathon this year was two million dollars. This is Dance Marathon’s 21st Big Event at UI.
In honor of DM, the first annual For The Kids Day was held this past weekend.

“We partner with the Family Relations committee to bring the family picnic and the 5K together,” said Amanda Durham, UI senior and development chair. “So it’s a really great way to have our runners, our dancers, our leadership, our community members here with our Dance Marathon families.”

Following the run, the picnic took place at the park.

All of the money from the 5K goes toward pediatric oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and each mile was dedicated to a Dance Marathon kiddo.
The 5K and picnic was the first of many Dance Marathon events to come. To find out more information about the organization, visit their Facebook page or dancemarathon.uiowa.edu
